The first POTW this week comes from Bert van der Linden in the Netherlands. Capturing the Chinooks operated by the Royal Netherlands Air Force, he was fortunate enough to be able to see them operate under a variety of conditions as part of a series of training exercises.

The Abingdon Air and Country Show is often the first airshow on many enthusiasts’ calendars each year, partly thanks to the show hosting an exclusive nightshoot prior to the day of the main event. UKAR’s very own Dom Vickery captured this Wasp helicopter after sunset, which was unfortunately unable to take part in the show due to last minute insurance problems.

Our third POTW entry this week also comes from the Abingdon nightshoot. Steve used excellent tripod technique to capture full discs on the Beech 18, as well as the blue flames coming out from the exhausts. Top marks!

Another shot that captures engine flames, is Shaun’s shot of Spitfire MH434 at the Season Premiere show at Old Warden. Starting up in the hands of Stu Goldspink, this added some more heat to an already scorching day.

The BBMF have been practising a brand new formation display for the RAF centenary, to be performed at a select few shows. Mark was just in the right position to capture a topside picture of the BBMF’s Lancaster, with the fighters coming around to join up into formation.

Another staff member that was out at an event this week was Ian Garfield. His image of the newly repainted Avro Anson at Old Warden leaves nothing to be desired thanks to being technically sound and with good composition.

Our last POTW this week is an image of a Brazilian Navy Super Lynx. Undertaking test flights in the south west of England after being upgraded by Leonardo, Stu travelled to RNAS Merryfield to photograph one of these rare examples.
