It's hard to believe that the Phantom took to the skies for the very first time in 1958 and yet 60 years later, several examples are still in service with the Hellenic Air Force. Mark Rourke's set captures the sheer power of a true aviation legend.

Some images work really well when converted to monotone and this image of Spitfire pilot Charlie Brown gives a real evocative and moody edge.

Rich Pittman provided UKAR with a great selection of helicopter images, in all manner of lighting conditions, including this CV-22B Osprey at night. Making full use of long a exposure, the rotor tip lights are seen to full effect, tracing out the discs against a starry sky.

More Phantom images and this time, fully tooled up F-4Es from the 338th Fighter-Bomber Squadron at Andravida Air Base, Greece.

Some great weather graced Nellis AFB for Aviation Nation 2017. Keith Draycott provided some exceptional images under blue skies and unique backdrops with a variety of aircraft, old and new - and in this case, all together, with the Heritage Flight consisting of Raptor, Thunderbolt and Mustang.

Finishing off 2017 in style is this exceptionally rare DHC-4A Turbo Caribou, here captured at Malta International Airport - a most unusual aircraft!

Israeli Eagles always make a popular subject, and this F-15C at the Blue Flag Exercise held in Ovda Base is seen fitted with the Conformal Fuel Tanks (CFTs) more commonly associated with the Strike Eagle in US service. It's an unusual look, but we're fans, as we are of this great set of photographs, though the post processing has divided opinion on the forum - what's your take?

The W-3ARM Sokel is not a type we see often on UKAR. That made this lovely study of a colourful SAR marked Polish Air Force example all the more welcome.

We at UKAR are over the moon that the venerable Sea King is still gracing our skies. Here, one of the machines from Heli Ops has been superbly captured operating out of its Portland base.

Our general aviation forum can be overlooked somewhat compared to its historical & military counter parts, but ignore these at your cost as you're missing some real gems.

It has been well over a year since the inaugural RAF Brize Norton night shoot hosted by 99sqn and UKAR staff member Andy Evans took an opportunity to remind us how good an event it was! How about a repeat event 99sqn, it's long overdue!

We're always happy to see photo threads from across the pond, this time a cracking set from Mesa-Williams Gateway featuring hardware from the US Marines & Air Force. This T-38 Talon captured our eye amongst a great all round post.

NATO's E-3 Component rcelebrated its 35th anniversary this year, and to mark the occasion, an Open House and Spottersday event was held at the unit's Geilenkirchen base. Amongst a fine array of military types from across the continent arriving to attend the event, we've selected Andy's solid capture of the anniversary marked Sentry in a rather dynamic pose.

Here at UKAR we love a quality air-to-air set, and these images of "Louisiana Kid" amply demonstrate why. With lovely light, nice angles and impressive prop blur, these images are well worth a look.

With the dark winter nights upon us we tend to see an upturn in the amount of night imagery. This Norwegian AW-101 seems particularly at home when viewed during a cold December with its icy blue cabin lighting adding to the chill.

A rather innovative shot next showing what can be achieved even after most photographers will have packed up and gone home. This impressive image shows F-15s lined up at Lakenheath in the very last of the day's light.

The Sea King is always a popular subject and this image of one of the Royal Navy's last few airframes oozes character. The popularity of this venerable workhorse shows no signs of abating as it enters it's final months of an auspicious career.

Mark Steven's impressive set from Romania has been a firm favourite here. The combination of classic Soviet hardware, excellent vantage points and beautiful weather is an aircraft photographer's dream and Mark has certainly made the most of the opportunity.

Marham remains popular with enthusiasts wanting to make the most of the opportunities to capture the dwindling Tornado fleet. In lovely clear weather there are some excellent images to be had, as this one shows!

We return to the Russian theme for our last image this week, with this lovely capture of a Tu204 on a visit to Stansted airport.

The mighty An-22 is a very rare visitor to UK shores. This wonderful image shows this brute of a transport aircraft in the unfamiliar setting of Manchester Airport.

RAF Marham at sunset can produce some beautiful imagery with the right lighting, as this shot of a pair of Tornado GR4s lining up to launch demonstrates.

The Mirage 2000 is a firm favourite of many here at UKAR with its sleek lines and Cold War heritage giving plenty of appeal. This image of one of G.C 1/2's aircraft in its HAS is beautifully lit and full of atmosphere.

Imagery from South Korea is pretty uncommon so these shots from Seol's ADEX 2017 caught our eye. This image of a KAI KUH-1 Surion demonstrates some of the wonderfully esoteric aircraft on display.

We stay overseas for our next image, an Argentine navy T-28 Trojan. Carrying it's allocation to the Argentine aircraft carrier, the 25th De Mayo, under the tail the aircraft is captured visiting Fort Lauderdale. With such beautiful clear light and a fantastic vantage point this image really caught our eye.

Our next image captures an aircraft more familiar in the UK, though sadly absent from the UK airshow circuit for many years now. The aircraft is seen here part dismantled and awaiting the next chapter in this aircraft's history.

Finally this week we have a lovely capture of one of HM Coastguard's AW-189 aircraft. The combination of a lovely clear winter's day and those colourful, eye catching markings make this an image well worth sharing.
